Summer Programs


Nissan North America is now accepting applications for its summer engineering program, which will be held in Smyrna. The program offers a hands-on, learning experience for freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors from area high schools. Working with Nissan engineers in Smyrna, students get to help resolve real workplace problems and see what it takes to operate one of the largest automotive assembly plants in North America.


Program participants will meet for four Saturdays; May 25 – June 15 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Nissan’s Auto Assembly Plant 983 Nissan Drive in Smyrna.

TN Governor's School

Sophomores and Juniors who are interested in applying to any of the Govenor's Schools must submit all materials to their counselor prior to the deadline. Most Governor's School applications are due December 1, 2017. All applications will list eligibility requirements. Click the link above for more information and applications.

Rutherford Works Summer Inernship

The Rutherford Works High School Internship Program is a partnership with employers who offer students productive and meaningful work assignments with a learning component ideally related to their area of interest. The Internship Program will provide 60 rising seniors who reside in Rutherford County the opportunity to gain paid work experience with a Rutherford County employer. Applications are due by February 9, 2018 by 4:30 PM. Click the link above for more information.
Rutherford Works offers two summer camps for high school students: Buy It, Move It, Make It, Sell It Camp ($300) and "Create with Code" Camp ($250). Space is limited to 20 students per camp. Some scholarships are available, but the deadline to apply for the scholarship is April 15th, 2018. Courses are taught by experienced educators from right here in Rutherford County who are passionate about helping students expand their knowledge, understanding, and interests.
