Who: Students identified as needing additional assistance with Reading
Intent: Help students develop better reading skills so they may read with competence, confidence, and comprehension.
Goal: Strengthen reading skills to be able to read and respond critically, evaluate sources, and draw supportable conclusions.
Emphasis: Development and utilization of vocabulary, comprehension, and self-monitoring and reflection of tasks 

 

Our daily format
Whole group mini lesson

Rotations: 1. Sustained Silent Reading and Response

                 2. Small Group Instruction with teacher

                 3. Independent/group work

We are respectful and attentive to the learning process. 
  • We work from bell to bell 
  • We are awake during class 
  • We listen while others speak 
  • We are focused on class content and avoid distractions (electronics, side conversations, etc.) 
  • We complete our tasks
  • We participate in class discussions 
  • We ask questions 
  • We are scholars
We recognize our classroom as a safe space. 
  • We welcome peers of all races, origins, religions, sexes, and genders 
  • We respect the thoughts and beliefs of others during classroom discussion 
  • We understand discrimination based on things a person does not control is immoral and unwelcome
