About Me

My name is Bobby Farley. I am the Criminal Justice II and Criminal Justice III teacher at LaVergne High School. I have a wife, four sons and one grandchild. I am a lifelong citizen of Rutherford County growing up in Murfreesboro, TN. I attended Hobgood Elementary, Black Fox Elementary, and Central Middle School and I am a graduate of Riverdale High School. I am an avid sports fan and enjoy watching baseball and football. My favorite teams are the Atlanta Braves, Tennessee Volunteers and Tennessee Titans. I love coaching two of my sons in baseball at the Murfreesboro Baseball Association. I am currently an Assistant Wrestling Coach at LaVergne High School and The Rutherford Works Career Ambassador for LaVergne High School.

I worked for the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office from February of 1999 to August of 2021 (22 and a half years). The positions at the Sheriff's Office that I worked during my time there were: Detention Deputy, Patrol Deputy, Narcotics/Undercover Investigation Operations Detective, School Resource Officer, Gang Intelligence Officer, Detention Facility Investigator and reached the highest rank of Sergeant.

During my time at the Sheriff's Department, I was also a Domestic and Sexual Violence Instructor and a Gang Intelligence and Recognition Instructor. I was fortunate enough during my time at the Sheriff's Office to also speak as an instructor for the National Gang Crime Research Center (N.G.C.R.C.) National Conference in Chicago, IL for 5 years and earned my Gang Expert Certification through them. The N.G.C.R.C. also awarded me with the Frederick M. Thrasher award for excellence in Gang Education. I am also a graduate of the National Jail Leadership Command Academy (Class #37) that is associated with Sam Houston University, the Correctional Management Institute of Texas (C.M.I.T) and the American Jail Association (A.J.A.).
