hello and welcome to LaVergne high schools Title 1 Spring planning meeting for 20 23 2024 the purpose of today's meeting is to bring together stakeholders that have an interest in Lavergne high school and the students attending here we will also review expenditures of the 2023 2020 for Title 1 funds we will discuss possible expenditures of Title 1 funds for next school year and focus on parenting gauge meant we will also and discuss the process that ensures federal funds are spent in a way that guarantees success for all students Federal Title 1 funds are supplementary in addition to the general purpose funds all schools receive schools must have at least 40% of the student population receiving free what is bunches in order to operate a Title 1 School y program and receive funding LaVergne High School 72% of students receive either a free or reduced lunch we're looking for input from all stakeholders on how to best utilize these additional funds to meet the needs of all students Sunday provides Personnel staff development instructional materials Equipment Technology and parent engagement opportunities and resources LaVergne high school has a very diverse demographic population 49% of our students are Hispanic or Latino 27% of our students are black or African American 18% of our students are white 3% are Asian 3% are multiracial and 1% of our population is made up of American Inn or Alaskan native some additional demographic data of note is for English learner students said 18% are free and reduced lunch population at 7 80% are students with disabilities at 8% how graduation rate has remained above 90% for the past several years with our graduation rate. 2.2% for the 2023 graduation year graduation by subgroups is as follows special education students 89.47% e l l students 85.71% and 87.3% Atlas students or students experiencing homelessness 76 point 2% black or African American students 91.33% Hispanic students 95.12% and white students 86.46 now we'll discuss some testing data Tennessee value-added assessment system also known as tboss measure several areas one important measure is gross this shows how much I could have it progress a student makes in a year students enter the school year at different levels some are at grade level some are ahead and some are behind this means their Finish Line maybe different the most important thing is to make at least a Year's growth and preferably more for any student starting the year before behind where they should be the amount of grass is measured Progress Index four between -1 and 1 is considered a level 3 this equates to a Year's growth LaVergne high school scores at a level three for the two 20 to 2023 school year we had well above-average growth in English 1 English 2 and US History while we were below average in biology integrated math 1 integrated math 2 an integrated math 3 our Christmas students with disabilities have urged a level 3 for the 2020 to 2023 school year English Learners also averaged a level 3 for the 2020 to 2023 school year achievement is another area of the Tennessee value-added assessment system this measures whether a student meets or exceeds expectations in the area of English 1 28.4% of students met or exceeded expectations in English to 44.7% of students met or exceeded expectations and integrated math 1 9.3% of students met or exceeded expectations an integrated math 16.1% met or exceeded expectations an integrated math 3 6.9% of students met or exceeded expectations 33.34 the students met or exceeded expectations in biology and 27.2% of students met or exceeded expectations in US history new for the 2022 2023 school year this is school letter grade describe is derived for four indicator areas achievement growth growth of highest needs students in College and Career readiness achievement is weighted at 50% growth at 30% growth of highest needs students at 10% and College and Career Readiness at 10% LaVergne High School score did a level 3 for Cheeseman and for growth and for College and Career readiness LaVergne High School scored at a level 5 for growth for highest needs food this averages together for score of 3.2 this is in the sea range which is 2.5 to 3.4 the final piece of data will look at its chronic absenteeism I love earn high school we have worked hard to reduce the number of students chronically absent in 20 21 20 22 25.8% of students were chronically absent in the 2020 to 2023 school year 15.9% of students were chronically absent that's a significant reduction over 1 years time now we'll review the priority areas of need in our school Improvement plan lhhs will prepare students for College and Career Readiness thank recently average ACT composite score 2021 or higher increasing early post-secondary enrollment and maintaining our High graduation rate english-language the cheese mints in value-added scores to ensure all students are prepared for the next grade level expectations the only chance we'll increase Master Chief and value at his horse to ensure all students are prepared for the next grade level expectations LHS will recruit retain and trained effective teachers instructional leaders and administrators to support our growing and diverse student population lhhs will Implement strategies to ensure all students receive a well-rounded education and have opportunity to learn in a safe and healthy environment our Title 1 allocations for the 2023 to 2024 school year are as follows LaVergne High School received a toad Federal allocation of $350,640 for the 2023 to 2024 school year these Sons were allocated as follows Personnel $192,130 equipment in Pieology $75,960 instructional materials and programs $35,700 parent engagement $11,100 staff development $35,749 each of these allocations are tied to the school Improvement plan how are Title One Personnel allocation fund it to position once Edition is a behavior coach the second position is an attendance coach we were also able to provide two extended contract for math tutoring after school our equipment and Technology allocations went to 30 rolling view Sonic Smart Boards we now have few sonnets available for almost every classroom teacher with our parent engagement allocation we purchase a talk and listen Wireless language interpretation system for two languages this will assist our parents who need interpretation during important parent meetings we also purchased a set of 10 10.9 inch iPads to be used to assist parents with a variety of activities we also conducted an act parent night where parents were provided with information and the first 40 parents received copies of the official ACT prep guide for 2023 and 2024 Title One provided many instructional materials including many software applications to be used by students to further their knowledge in reading and math additionally or tables were purchased for intervention instruction set in classrooms Title 1 funds for used to offer our teachers many professional development opportunities many teachers went to the solution tree PLC at work conference in the fall several of our science teachers in our Librarians were also able to attend conferences this school year teachers went to Atlanta to attend and act conference to assist our students in the ACT exam are instructional coaches will be attending a conference in May so they may better support teachers several teachers will be attending the iste conference in Denver to learn more about new technology in School we have several teachers going to the in Nevada School Summit in June which will be held in Nashville and additionally two of our administrators will be going to the solution tree plc it works Conference in June additionally Title 1 funds were used to purchase 33 copies of the culture code so that our leadership team can participate in the book study to further their team ever to support our school which of the survey to parents and I saw our results these are our highlights on a scale of 1 to 5 4.1 for feel comfortable testing your child's principal and or teacher for so the school provides a safe place for your student to learn for trust to school staff for Hills School connect students and parents and Families 2 opportunities and community services for till the school keeps parents and families informed about important School topics and events on the same survey we had some areas of growth on a scale of 1 to 5 3.71 fill the school encourages parents and families to be involved 3.71 till the school promote respect for students feels as if they are part of the school Community 3.85 fill the school gives parents and families useful information about your students progress success and how to
