About Us

Your librarians, Mrs. Benton and Ms. Miller, love connecting the phenomenal students and teachers here at LHS with the resources they need to be successful.  We love sharing great books and digital resources and seeing the excitement that comes from collaboration.  Our absolute favorite thing about being a Wolverine is that we get to make a difference every day in the lives of our country's future leaders.  

Mrs. Benton has been a teacher for 22 years and is excited to start her fourth year at LHS.  She began her career teaching English I & Spanish I at Smyrna High before transferring to Roy Waldron Elementary to be their librarian.  After 12.5 years at RWS, she was delighted to move to LHS to help transform the library media center.  She is proud to see her former elementary students all grown up and flourishing. 

Mrs. Benton lives in La Vergne with her husband and teenage son.   In addition to reading, she also enjoys crafting, baking, writing stories and poetry, watching movies, spending time with her family, and traveling to Orlando to hang out at Disney World and Universal Studios.  She grew up in Charleston, TN.

Your librarians cannot imagine life without books.  Mrs. Benton's favorite genre is dystopian fiction. Some of her favorite books are The Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger, The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.
