Gifted Education

What is 'gifted education' in Rutherford County?
-My task is to help students, who are intellectually gifted, to reach their full potential. Whether that is focusing on one's passion for community involvement, growing one's skills in the fields of art/music, or continuing one's learning through advanced content area courses (English, math, history, etc.), I help to facilitate these goals through individual and group conferences in accordance with each child's IEP.
How do I (the student) do that?
-Students are able to spearhead their high school experience. I help them to reach their INDIVIDUAL goals throughout the school year; however, all of the hard work will be done by the student. Attendance is essential in group meetings alongside one's intellectual peers and individual conferences are used to set goals and cross them off once they are accomplished throughout the school year.
